Itinerary
When you exit the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by a THE VISIT LANKA representative who will be your chauffeur for the rest of this 12 days popular tour in Sri Lanka and drive you directly to Sigiriya. Based on the time you arrive in Sri Lanka, it will be decided whether you should visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. Otherwise, the visit to the Dambulla Temple will be arranged on a later date.
Anuradhapura Stupas Scenic Point (Stop: 6 hours - Admission excluded)
After the delicious breakfast drive to Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura city became the Capital of Anuradhapura Kingdom in the 4th Century BC. It remained as the capital city for 15 centuries and was a prominent political and trade center in South Asia during this period.Over Night Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura city became the Capital of Anuradhapura Kingdom in the 4th Century BC. Ruwanwelisaya, an ancient stupa, is revered by the Buddhist community. Thuparamaya enshrines the collarbone of the Buddha and is considered to be the first dagaba, or pagoda, built in Sri Lanka. Lovamahapaya also known as the Brazen Palace is between the Ruwanvaliseya and Sri Maha Bodhiya. Jetavanarama is the largest stupa in Sri Lanka. As well as these beautiful places there are other stupas and relics, soaring over the vast acres of paddy fields in the area.
Twin Baths (Kuttam Pokuna) (Stop: 30 minutes - Admission excluded)
One of the best specimen of bathing tanks or pools in ancient Sri Lanka is the pair of pools known as Kuttam Pokuna. The said pair of pools were built by the Sinhalese in the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura.
Polonnaruwa (Stop: 6 hours)
Day 3 - After breakfast proceed to Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was a great city in Sri Lanka which came in to prominence during its’ brief period of 2 Centuries of Sri Lankan history, being second only to the ancient city of Anuradhapura in ancient cultural heritage. Polonnaruwa today is a showcase of the great ancient Sri Lankan architecture dating back to 12th Century AD ,which was interwoven with many Buddhist monasteries and monuments which were built by the King Parakramabahu I. when we slowly finish the site of polonnaruwa,on your request your friendly chauffeur will take where you can take for the authentic sri lankan lunch
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress (Stop: 9 hours - Admission excluded)
After a delicious breakfast, you will be driven to the famous Sigirya Rock, where you will have an opportunity to climb to the top of this ancient rock fortress. Thereafter, you will be driven to the famous and beautiful city of Kandy. Along the way, a visit a spice garden is planned. Thereafter, you will be driven directly to the hotel in Kandy. Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres high
Kandy Lake (Stop: 5 hours - Admission excluded)
After a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, you will have a great opportunity to visit the city of Kandy, Temple of the Sacred tooth Relic and the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. thereafter in the evening, you will be driven to watch a fantastic traditional Sri Lankan dance event. You will spend the night in Kandy.
Post Office Nuwara Eliya (Stop: 9 hours - Admission excluded)
After good breakfast, you will be driven to Nuwara Eliya. On the way to Nuwara Eliya, you will have an opportunity to view some beautiful waterfalls and tea plantations. If a train is available at the time of your arrival to the station, you can enjoy a breathtaking train ride to Ella, if not you will be driven to Ella by car. You will spend the night in Ella.
Ella Rock (Stop: 5 hours - Admission excluded)
After a good breakfast, we will visit the Nine Arch Bridge in Demodara. The Nine Arches Bridge, also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. We are going to reach the place through a bit of a jungle-like road. If you can not go by walking through the jungel, then we can go by tuk tuk to a nearby location. The second place you will be visiting is Little Adams Peak. It is 1141m high and is fairly easy to climb, with a good path all the way up. The trip took us about 2-3 hours in total (including picture taking). At the end of this visit, you can have lunch in Ella town, which we recommend. After lunch,we will drive back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Ella (Stop: 6 hours)
After an enjoyable breakfast, you will be driven to Tissamaharama to visit the famous Yala National Park. Along the way, you will have an opportunity to view the beautiful waterfall named Rawana Falls. It is one of the widest waterfalls in the country, with 25m of height. The special feature of this place is that it connects with the epic tale of Ramayanaya. Once you arrive at the hotel, you can have your lunch, and thereafter you will be driven to the safari tour. Overnight Tissamaharama.
Mirissa Beach (Stop: 6 hours - Admission excluded)
According to your Sri Lanka luxury tour itinerary, you will travel from Yala to Mirissa on this day. After breakfast in Yala, you will move on to explore the gorgeous combination of sun, sand, and water of Sri Lanka. Mirissa Beach’s breathtaking sandy beach pretty much transforms your dreams and visions of a tropical paradise into an everyday reality. This small, sandy tropical beach boasts some of Sri Lanka’s best and most stunning sunsets and sunrises. One part of the Mirissa beach is ideal for surfing. Therefore, you can enjoy it there with many water activities. Your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Mirissa.
Mirissa Beach (Stop: 4 hours - Admission excluded)
On the 10th day of your Sri Lanka luxury tour, you will have an opportunity to go on a whale and dolphin watching expedition in Mirissa. This will be one of the most exciting water activities you will experience in Sri Lanka during your holiday. Mirissa is known as the best place to start your whale and dolphin watching tour in Sri Lanka. Blue whales are considered the largest animals on the globe. You will be lucky to see those giants during this tour. As well, you can watch sperm whales, fin whales, killer whales, dolphins, whale sharks, and pilot whales. Normally, the tour will start early in the morning and take around 3-5 hours. You can see how dolphins swim with your boat. The massive jumping of the blue whales will definitely amaze you. November to April is the best season for whale watching in Mirissa. You will be staying in Mirissa on that day as well.
Bentota Beach (Stop: 6 hours - Admission excluded)
After a delicious breakfast,we will travel to Galle. On the way, you will have an opportunity to visit Galle city and its Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. It was first built in 1588 by the Portuguese and then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. Today, it is another UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka. You can walk inside or around the Dutch fort. It is a nice place to take some photos and to enjoy the sea breeze of the Indian Ocean. After the Dutch fort, drive to Bentota. It is a resort town on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. The long Bentota Beach stretches north, where it becomes a sandy strip known as Paradise Island, parallel to Bentota Lagoon.. After checking into the hotel, you have the opportunity to visit the Turtle Conservation and Hatchery site, followed by a boat ride on the Madu River with a chance to experience a massage given by the fish in a small river. Overnight Bentota.
Colombo (Stop: 2 hours)
Wake up to a freshly-prepared breakfast at the hotel and then get ready to check out as it’s time to say ‘Goodbye’ to Sri Lanka. You will be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo or Negombo for your onward journey back home
Bentota (Stop: 6 hours)
Depending on the flight time we covered below on the way to the airport, Sea Turtle Hatchery & Rescue Centre, and later visit Galle Dutch Fort and the Madu River Boat Safari. The boat ride and entrance are not included in the package.
